The state of Texas regulates the sale of controlled dangerous substances
in a unique manner. It classifies both drugs and the compounds necessary
to manufacture them as controlled dangerous substances. If you have been
arrested for the production or sale of controlled dangerous substances,
you should discuss your case with a knowledgeable representative from
my firm. As your Rockwall criminal defense attorney, I can provide you
with a strong defense for your drug sale charge. Texas is known for its
severe penalties, and therefore, I encourage you to schedule a
case evaluation at once.
Penalties for Selling Controlled Substances
Texas divides various controlled dangerous substances into four penalty
groups. Penalty Group 1 is the most dangerous drugs, which can have a
high probability of abuse, and Penalty Group 4 describes the drugs that
are considered less dangerous.
- For less than 28 grams of a controlled dangerous substance of a drug that
is in Penalty Group 3 or 4, you can face a fine of up to $10,000 and a
minimum of 180 days in jail.
- For the sale of 400 grams or more of drugs in Penalty group 1, the offender
can face a fine of up to $250,000 and at least 15 years in prison.
